Translating Chinese images into Korean
Most Chinese text people need translated never arrives as text. It is 1688 and Taobao listings, spec sheets photographed rather than exported, packaging shots, WeChat screenshots and machine control panels — pixels, not characters, so there is nothing to select and nothing to paste into a translator.
Chinese is written in Han characters with no spaces between words, in either simplified or traditional form, and older signage still runs vertically. PicTranslate reads it straight off the image, translates it into Korean, and redraws the result in place, so the layout you were looking at is the layout you get back.
What Chinese → Korean translation has to get right
- ▸No word boundaries: the model has to decide where one word ends before it can translate anything, and a wrong split changes the sentence.
- ▸Simplified and traditional appear in the same corpus and sometimes on the same page; both are read without being told which to expect.
- ▸Vertical text on older signage, book spines and stylised packaging is detected and read in the right order rather than scrambled.
- ▸Spacing carries meaning in Korean: the same letters split differently are different words, so word breaks are not cosmetic.
- ▸Speech level has to match the context — the register used in a webtoon's dialogue is not the one used on a product label.
- ▸Expansion: Korean runs roughly 50% longer than Chinese, which is the single most common way a translated image breaks — text is re-fitted to the original box rather than allowed to spill out of it.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is Chinese to Korean image translation?+
PicTranslate runs on top-tier LLMs (GPT-4o, Claude 3.5) combined with Chinese OCR and Korean context modelling, producing industry-leading accuracy — even on complex layouts and domain-specific terminology.
Does the translated image keep the original layout?+
Yes. The AI detects the Chinese text's position, font and background, then redraws the Korean translation in place — the output image is nearly identical in layout to the original.
What kinds of images does this work for?+
Chinese e-commerce listings, manga panels, technical documents, mobile screenshots, menus and signs — any image containing Chinese text can be translated into Korean.
How long does Chinese → Korean translation take?+
Typically 3-5 seconds per image. Complex layouts or large files may take a little longer. Batch mode processes up to 20 images in parallel.
