Translating Arabic images into English

Most Arabic text people need translated never arrives as text. It is a photographed shop sign, a scanned government form, a menu, a WhatsApp screenshot, a product label from a Gulf supplier. You cannot select it, so you cannot paste it into a translator — and retyping Arabic you cannot read is not an option.

PicTranslate reads the Arabic directly off the image, translates it into English, and redraws the result in place. The layout you were looking at stays the layout you get back, which matters when the document's structure — a form, a table, a receipt — is half the meaning.

What Arabic → English translation has to get right

  • ▸Right-to-left flow: Arabic reads right to left, so lines, columns and table cells have to be re-anchored rather than simply overwritten — otherwise the English lands in the wrong column.
  • ▸Connected letterforms: Arabic is cursive and each letter changes shape depending on whether it starts, sits inside or ends a word. OCR built for isolated Latin glyphs misreads this constantly; the model is trained on the joined forms.
  • ▸Missing diacritics: everyday Arabic omits the short-vowel marks, so the same consonant skeleton can be several different words. Disambiguation comes from context, not the glyphs.
  • ▸Text contraction: Arabic is compact and English usually runs longer, so translated labels are re-fitted to the original box instead of spilling past it.
  • ▸Numerals: Eastern Arabic digits (٠١٢٣٤) are converted to Western ones, which matters on invoices, prices and dates.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is Arabic to English image translation?+

PicTranslate runs on top-tier LLMs (GPT-4o, Claude 3.5) combined with Arabic OCR and English context modelling, producing industry-leading accuracy — even on complex layouts and domain-specific terminology.

Does the translated image keep the original layout?+

Yes. The AI detects the Arabic text's position, font and background, then redraws the English translation in place — the output image is nearly identical in layout to the original.

What kinds of images does this work for?+

Arabic e-commerce listings, manga panels, technical documents, mobile screenshots, menus and signs — any image containing Arabic text can be translated into English.

How long does Arabic → English translation take?+

Typically 3-5 seconds per image. Complex layouts or large files may take a little longer. Batch mode processes up to 20 images in parallel.
